LE BALUSTRE BRUN

A tall sculptural ceramic vessel characterized by an elongated silhouette, a flared upper rim, and a rhythmic pedestal base inspired by classical balusters and architectural ornament.

The upper body is slender and vertical, creating a refined contrast with the more articulated lower section. Beneath it, a sequence of rounded, sculpted volumes forms a stacked stem-like structure, introducing a sense of rhythm and movement to the piece. The composition gives the vessel an almost columnar presence, while the flared rim adds a ceremonial quality reminiscent of historical chalices and decorative urns.

The piece is finished in a deep, dark brown glaze that accentuates its contours and creates subtle variations in tone and reflection across the surface. The glaze pools differently around the curves and recessed areas, enhancing the sculptural depth of the form and making each piece visually unique.

Its proportions balance elegance with monumentality. Referencing both classical architecture and early twentieth-century decorative arts, the vessel is reduced to a contemporary, almost abstract object whose character comes from repetition, symmetry, and proportion.

Designed to stand as a sculptural object even when left empty, Le Balustre has a strong vertical presence and works particularly well as part of an architectural interior composition or grouped with other ceramic forms.
