L’URNE BRUNE

A sculptural ceramic vessel defined by a generous, rounded body and a strong architectural base. The form draws on the timeless language of classical urns, reinterpreted through a contemporary and highly reduced silhouette.
The body is wheel-thrown with a pronounced spherical volume, gently narrowing toward the neck before opening into a restrained upper rim. Its lower section is anchored by a carefully articulated pedestal-like foot, giving the piece a sense of weight, balance, and permanence.
Finished in a deep, dark brown glaze with subtle tonal variation, the surface shifts between matte and softly reflective areas, revealing the movement of the glaze and the traces of the making process. These variations are an integral part of the object, emphasizing its handmade character and giving depth to the otherwise restrained form.
Although rooted in historical ceramic typologies, the vase is conceived as a sculptural object in its own right. Its proportions, mass, and controlled symmetry give it a quiet monumental presence, allowing it to function equally as a vessel or as a standalone decorative piece.
